Classroom Rules and Expectations:
Make the most of each music class:
-Use time effectively
-Always do your best and put 100% effort into music class
Use instruments and equipment safely and properly.
Sing and participate in all classroom activities to the best of your ability.
-Barring any special situations, participation in class is not optional.
Illustrate good character and make good choices.
-Show respect for yourself, others, and property
-Follow directions
Come into and leave the music room quietly and in line.
Failure to meet music class expectations will be dealt with on an individual basis. Consequences are as follows:
1. Visual Cue/Verbal warning
2. Time-out/Conference with teacher
3. Loss of privilege (sitting out during class activity)
4. Minor behavior report and parent contact
Grading Procedures:
Students will be given a grade in music at least once a week. These guidelines are consistent with the grading policy for the visual and performing arts. Grades will be determined as follows:
- Daily objectives (singing, dancing, playing instruments, demonstrating rhythm skills and other curriculum based activities)
- Informal assessments
- Formative assessments (usually written assessments)
- Showing progress towards meeting curriculum standards and objectives with:
- Class work activities (worksheets or games)
- Group performances that show newly learned and practiced skills.
- Participation and Effort
- Students are expected to participate and show effort in all activities to the best of their ability.
